Margaret River Community Centre and the Arts

The Community Centre promotes the arts in all forms, in recognition of the role art can play in personal and cultural identity.

  • The Church Gallery is an exhibition space that can be hired for gallery displays, showing films and performances.
  • The Washhouse Art Space is a studio facility available for hire.
  • From 1997 to 2017, MRCC operated an Artist in Residence program, accommodating artists in the Matron’s Quarters.
  • Colour and creativity abound around the grounds, with the art installations interspersed amongst the gardens…Link to Art Trail

The MRCC Inc Committee is very proud to support local up-and-coming artists with the purchase of selected artworks each year from the annual Margaret River Senior High School and Margaret River TAFE student showcases. These works, pieces donated from the AIR program and results of community wellbeing projects all form the Margaret River Community Centre Art Collection which is displayed throughout the various buildings of the Community Centre.

The Birdhouses

Following the devastating bushfire that destroyed 40-odd houses and affected many, many local families in Prevelly-Wilderness in 2010, community rebuilding and resilience activities inlcuded the Birdhouse Workshops. Many of the decorated birdhouses were sold off to raise funds and a selection were donated to the Community Centre. They are on display in the foyer of the main building.
