HERITAGE CONSERVATION PLAN

Under its long-term lease with the Augusta Margaret River Shire,  Margaret River Community Centre Inc is responsible for the ongoing management of the Old Hospital Heritage Precinct, including maintaining heritage values, strengthening community and enhancing sustainability.

The Committee is very grateful for the ongoing and long-term support of the Augusta Margaret River Shire, LotteryWest, Heritage Architect Michael Sorenson and the WA Heritage Council. Other specialty architects who have contributed over the years include Linton Hodgson, Neil Tweedie and Kris Keen.

Sustainability Initiatives

Sustainability initiatives around the Old Hospital Heritage Precinct include:

  • water sensitive urban design practices, with rain gardens and water management across hard surfaces
  • onsite capture and use of rainwater via a 100 000L tank, funded by Suez Community Grant in 2018
  • reduction of carbon-based electricity, with installation of 20MW solar panel system, funded by Synergy Community Solar Fund in 2018
  • source-local buying policy.
