2024-25 Annual Report

Margaret River Community Centre Inc held its 2024-25 Annual General Meeting on 17/09/2025. The Chair presented the Annual Report and the Treasurer presented the audited financial report.

This was followed by our annual Community Conversation with guest presenter Fiona Rudkin from Child Australia, leading a discussion on the challenges the early childhood education sector faces and the values of not-for-profit centres such as the Community Centre for Children.

MRCC Inc Objects of Association & Rules

Margaret River Community Centre Inc was originally incorporated in 1993. Amendments to the MRCC Inc’s Rules of Association (also known as the constitution) were approved at the AGM in September 2025 and once approved by DLGIRS will be provided here.

Our Mission is to:

1. To relieve the poverty, distress and disadvantage experienced by persons in need, including by providing or supporting services and programs that:

a. relieve social, economic, health and other disadvantage;

b. relieve the needs of aging persons; and

c. promote the health, welfare and care of children and families.

2. To provide and maintain the Old Hospital Heritage Precinct, being the place through which MRCC delivers its activities and services, provides a forum for communication, identity, and consensus, and brings together people and ideas that are beneficial to the community.

Membership of MRCC Inc: JOIN OR RENEW NOW!

Membership is open to everyone who supports the objects of the association.

There are two types of membership:

  • Ordinary Membership: for individuals or organisations, allows full voting rights, annual fee: $20 (July-June); or
  • Associate Membership: includes the rights of ordinary membership except for voting rights and is free. Associate categories are:
    • Associate (Junior) for under 15 years old
    • Associate (Staff and Tenants)
    • Associate (Childcare)

The membership term is twelve months from July to June. Please click here to download the Membership Application Form, pay the annual fee and email your form to bookings@mrcc.com.au. Renewals will be rolled over and new applications will be tabled at the next committee meeting.

Management committee

Margaret River Community Centre is operated by the incorporated association, Margaret River Community Centre Inc, which is overseen by a voluntary management committee. The committee employs a Centre Manager, Childcare Coordinator and multiple staff.

MRCC Inc Management Committee meetings are held every two months, with additional special meetings across the year.

Life Memberships

Life memberships have been awarded to the following people, in recognition and honour of a long-term commitment and dedication to the Margaret River Community Centre Inc and, so too, to the local community. Congratulations and thank you to:

  • John Alferink in 1999: member of the original Margaret River Community Centre, Treasurer MRCRC 1991 – 1999
  • Rosamond Blakeney in 2020: member of the original Margaret River Community Centre, Committee Member MRCRC and MRCC Inc 1993-present, Chair of MRCRC 1997-2010.
  • Anne Shepherdson in 2020 (dec 2024): founding member of the Margaret River Community Centre; Committee Member MRCRC and MRCC Inc 1993-2024; Chair of MRCRC 1993-1996; Secretary of MRCC 2023-2024. Anne was part of the campaign to preserve the Old Hospital for our community and continued as an active committee member to keep the Centre for the people of Margaret River and surrounds, while keeping its heritage alive. She always shared wise guidance with humour and grace, making sure that everyone was made welcome. Anne’s capacity for genuine and lasting community connection and her generosity of time and spirit made it a privilege to know her and work alongside her.

What's in a name?

From modest beginnings in 1985 in a house on the corner of Station Rd, Margaret River Community Centre Inc (MRCC Inc), which incorporated in 1990, is a trusted not-for-profit membership organisation that preserves the Old Hospital Heritage Precinct as a place for people of all ages and life stages to connect and belong. Our core mission from the beginning and continuing today, is to provide supports and services, including Emergency Relief (ER), for locals experiencing socio-economic disadvantage, while promoting individual and community resilience.

1984 – first meeting of Margaret River Community Centre 

1985 – operations began from a house on the corner of Station and Wallcliffe Rds

Jan 1990 – Margaret River Resource Centre Inc formed with the move to the Old Hospital site

Oct 1991 – name change to Margaret River Community Resource Centre Inc

2017 Revised Constitution adopted

Jan 2018 – name change to Margaret River Community Centre Inc

Sept 2025 Revised Constituion adopted
